People throw the word “depressed” around like it means nothing. Depression isn’t when you’re just a wee bit sad. You don’t have the slightest clue what it feels like to be depressed.
Being depressed isn’t when you wake up one morning feeling a bit down, it’s when you wake up every morning thinking “why am I still here?” It’s not going to bed at night after having a disagreement with your friend, it’s going to bed every night thinking “hopefully I won’t wake up this time…” 
Some people have no idea how it feels to really be depressed. When every waking minute of your life, you want to die. You go to serious measure like self harm, starving yourself, drinking, taking drugs, all just to try and feel better, to escape from the reality of life for a short space of time.
Depression is not when you walk around sulking all the time, it’s when you walk around with a smile on your face, laughing, joking, telling everyone you’re fine when you really want to just turn around and someone to notice that you’re not fine at all. You just want someone to know that you’re not okay, to hug you so tight and not let go.
It offends me at how people go on about depression, like it’s nothing, just another emotion. Having depression is not just another emotion! It’s not just feeling sad some days. IT’S A MENTAL ILLNESS THAT NEEDS TREATED! The sooner people realise that, the better.
